Sherry: What did you get? A bottle of water, Lays, Airwaves, and … What’s this, some new kind of candy?

Irene: No, it’s more like medicine. It doesn’t taste anything like candy!

Sherry: Pro-po-lis. That’s a strange name for medicine. It sounds Greek. “Pro” means “ before,” right? And “polis” means “city.”

Irene: Right, Bees use propolis around the front door of their hives to protect themselves from germs and enemies.

Sherry: Whatever, Irene. Think I’m going to buy that one? Bees can’t buy propolis at 7-Eleven!

Irene: No, they make it! Propolis is a mixture of tree resin and bee spit.

Sherry: Bee spit?! You’re going to eat that?

Irene: Yep. It kills germs so it should keep me from getting sick.

Sherry: And just what makes you so sure it’ll keep you healthy, anyway?

Irene: In 1965, a French doctor gave scientific proof that propolis could be used as an antibiotic to help our bodies fight disease. By the way, have you ever heard a honey bee sneeze?
